ABS Boards
ABS boards are mainly for indoor use:
- No Smoking

The Process
- Our graphic Design Team does the artwork in-house.
- The customer then approves artwork.
- From there, the artwork is sent out for positives to a repro house which supplies us
with the image on positives to enable the screenprinter to expose the image onto the screens for the screen printing process.
- The printing process is done in CMYK. The four colour process,
Process Colour images are made up of the colour cyan, magenta, yellow and black. Process colours are generally referred to as CMYK (the “K” is for the “key” colour which is black).
Process colour seperations are generally NOT done with vector based programs like Corel Draw. For this reason we
make use of repro-houses who use the right programs and technology to supply the printer with accurate positives.
The separations are mainly done in Adobe Photoshop because it allows you to use industry standard ink values and can
easily adjust for dot gain and other screen printing specific requirements.
- The positives are placed directly onto pre-emulsion coated screens and exposed to a light source that contains UV rays.
Wherever the emulsion coated screen receives light it becomes exposed.
- The exposed emulsion becomes
water resistant and areas that were shielded from the light are not exposed and remain water soluble. The screens get
hosed down with water and the image exposed remain on the screen. With your four colour process you will need
four screens.
- Once the screens are ready and dry, they get setup onto the flatbed print machine.
- From there ink is placed into the screen which the operator screens onto the boards. The boards are placed onto drying
racks to dry before the second colour can be screened onto the board. The operator lines the boards up with registration
marks on the screens to see exactly where the next colour must be printed. There will be a screen for each colour of ink.
- After allowing the boards to dry, the process starts again [four times] the next colour goes on the board until all the colours
are printed.
- Finishing is important depending on the customer’s requirements.
If the customer requires the correx boards with holes punched or with eyelets, the staff then punch holes into the boards and
with an eyelet press, inserts the eyelets placing them where the customer requested.
The boards are checked, wrapped and delivered.
